UNIVERSITY DEBATE ON ECOWAS VISION 2050 EMPOWERS YOUTH AND AWARDS LEARNING MATERIALS TO PARTICIPATING INSTITUTIONS.
On March 26th, the ECOWAS Volunteers Programme in Liberia hosted a University Debate Championship to engage students on the ECOWAS Vision 2050 and youth empowerment. Four top universities debated the role of youth leadership in driving economic transformation across the region, using the British Parliamentary format to promote critical thinking.
The event featured key dignitaries, including ECOWAS Ambassador Josephine Nkrumah, and drew participants from multiple institutions. It served as a powerful platform for young voices to contribute to discussions on regional development and policy.

ECOWAS VOLUNTEER DONATES ARMREST CHAIRS TO LOCAL SCHOOL IN LIBERIA.
In order to address the difficulties encountered by students at William Gabriel Kpoleh High School in Liberia, the ECOWAS Volunteer Language Art Teacher, Seraphine Nyealeve, initiated a pet project by donating armrest chairs to her workplace.
The provision of these chairs, designed to offer comfort and support, is expected to significantly improve the learning environment for the students while furthering the objectives of #SDG 4, which aims to ensure quality education for every child.

The ECOWAS Volunteers Programme in Liberia marked ECOWAS's 49th anniversary with a special event featuring Her Excellency Josephine Nkrumah, the ECOWAS Resident Representative.
In a heartfelt gesture, Her Excellency pledged to donate $5,000 worth of school materials to two orphanages, addressing critical needs and supporting the children's education.
Moreover, the ECOWAS Volunteers Programme in Liberia provided food, non-food items, and menstrual hygiene kits, alongside education on proper menstrual hygiene, to over 100 underprivileged girls. This initiative showcases ECOWAS's commitment to community support and the well-being of young girls.

As part of the ECOWAS Day celebration on May 28, the ECOWAS Volunteers Programme (EVP) team in Liberia actively participated in a well-organized roadshow aimed at raising public awareness about the programme while offering free medical checkups to community members. The event attracted a large crowd, with participants showing keen interest in learning about EVP and accessing essential health services. Medical tents and stations were set up along the road, where professional health workers conducted free screenings for conditions such as high blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
In addition to the medical outreach, the EVP team used the platform to engage the public on ECOWAS Vision 2050, highlighting the programme's mission, volunteer eligibility criteria, and its broader benefits. Attendees were inspired by real-life success stories from past volunteers, which helped reinforce the value and impact of regional volunteerism. The roadshow served as both an informative and motivational platform for promoting active civic participation across the region.
